Why You'll Love It?
Piero Busso is small family run estate focused on producing site specific Barbaresco that are a true reflection of each region. Piero’s father Guido first established the estate in 1953. Quality over quantity has always been the goal for the Bussos, producing only about 45,000 bottles a year in total. The San Stunet plot was added to their estate in 1994, allowing Piero to produce Barbarescos from a different terroir. This is the only plot that’s situated outside of Neive. The grapes are produced from organically farmed vines that are 25-50 years old, situated 400m above sea level. Indigenous yeast fermentation, aged 18mths in large Slavonian botti. The soils are mostly limestone with some blue Marl. The site is late ripening, usually picked ten days after the others. All of this makes for a wine of stature, freshness and definition. Only 4000 bottles of this Barbaresco was produced.
Elegant and well balanced Barbaresco with lovely fine tannins that are soft yet present and fresh acidity. Loads of red berry flavours with dark cherries, earthy, minerally notes harmoniously blended together with a long finish.
